Algo fait partie des 11 lauréats régionaux de la bio-économie !

Algo is one of 11 regional winners in the bioeconomy!

On January 25th, our company was awarded the regional bioeconomy prize for the Brittany region by a national jury. This latest award recognizes our company's strong commitments and values, which are driven by a more responsible manufacturing process.

This Thursday, February 27, Algo® will be present at the national final which will designate the national winner from among the 11 regional ecological innovations selected.

Our algae-based paint is therefore in the running to win a national trophy, but many other innovations are also in the running.

The creation of this trophy highlights the strong desire of the Ministry of Agriculture to promote innovations in favor of the bio-economy.

Among the DRAFF selection criteria, many conditions were necessary to apply in the hope of becoming one of the winners: among others, the establishment of a sector , the promotion of bio-resources , the provision of an innovative bio-sourced solution and of course being anchored in a defined territory in France allowing the promotion of its development and its economic dynamism.

The objectives of these trophies are in particular to create value around products linked to the production, use and transformation of bio-resources.

Like our algae-based paint, many other bio-sourced innovations have also been highlighted, such as the production of biomethane fuel or the creation of insulating panels using rice.

Discover the 10 other projects highlighted by the DRAFF (the regional directorate for food and agriculture):

11 bio-sourced projects highlighted!

1. Winner of the Hauts-de-France region; VT Green:

A company specializing in the thermochemical recovery of biomass from agriculture, VT Green aims to support innovative projects to enable the development of bio-sourced products.

2. Winner of the Pays de la Loire region; CAVAC Biomaterials:

The Pays de la Loire-based company is reintroducing hemp to create a local, bio-sourced insulation material. Since hemp production contains no waste, the products needed to make the insulation are produced within a 100-kilometer radius of the production site.

Like Algo Paint, this winner aims to promote a short-circuit ecological sector.

3. Winner Centre Val de Loire; Accort-paille:

Accort Paille offers the certainty of using ecological and responsible materials for construction projects.

The objective is to train with a view to constructing high-performance buildings.

Accort Paille promotes innovative solutions to replace fossil-based insulation, particularly using straw.

4. New Aquitaine winner; Mellois Hemp:

The association, created in 2005, promotes the cultivation of organic hemp without pesticides and chemical fertilizers.

By offering a product that promotes local and renewable raw materials, Chanvre Mellois offers an alternative to petroleum chemistry while still providing a high-quality product.

5. Winner Occitanie Region; Cavale:

Cavale is a cooperative divided into 5 areas of activity, namely distribution, oil milling, grain collection, distillery and supply with the aim of recycling waste from the hectares of vines.

The company therefore offers seed oil and even potable alcohol, all while recycling waste from the vines.

6. PACA Region Winner; BalleConcept:

Balleconcept reuses waste from the production of the famous Camargue rice. The company optimizes the residue from this production to make "bales" for the construction sector in particular.

7. Auvergne Rhône Alpes; Bois-des-Alpes association:

The Bois des Alpes association promotes local bio-sourced materials, particularly Alpine wood. The association's goal is simple: to promote more responsible construction while maintaining an optimized distribution channel by promoting the use of local materials.

8. Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region; Géochanvre:

By using hemp that is local and pesticide-free, the Géochanvre company is innovating in its manufacturing process by offering a compact product.

9. The Grand Est region: Eurek'Alias

The company transforms organic materials by converting biogas into electricity and heat through cogeneration.

The company's long-term goal is to market biomethane fuel locally!

10. The Ile-de-France region: Gatichanvre

The company, made up of farmer shareholders, wants to introduce hemp to make it a more responsible insulation material. Hemp is being introduced to make several products: natural insulation, concrete blocks, natural seeds, etc.

Algo Paint, the winner for the Brittany region

Algo is therefore one of the potential winners of the national bioeconomy trophies which are being held this Thursday, February 27 at the Paris Agricultural Show .

Our paint range boasts strong values and an unwavering commitment to the environment and more responsible consumption.

A healthy product for a healthy home

By promoting the use of bio-sourced plant-based raw materials , Algo® preserves the air quality in your interiors.

We spend 22 hours a day in enclosed spaces, which leaves room for the development of major pollutants that can ultimately be dangerous to our health.

Algo® paint is formulated using natural, bio-sourced and renewable components such as algae from the Breton coast.

Thanks to our innovation, Algo® paints contain less than one gram of volatile organic compounds per liter of paint applied. This reassurance makes it an A+ certified paint for indoor air emissions.

Thanks to the eco-responsible dimension brought to our paint, the Algo® range is Ecolabel certified.

Algo® frees itself from petroleum chemistry

The main material of our paint, the algae present in our paints only presents advantages for its application and its applicator.

The paint is formulated with 98% bio-sourced elements using plant resin, natural pigments and water.

Using algae in our paints does not harm the planet. Indeed, algae is a natural and renewable resource. Furthermore, it does not encroach on land reserves intended to feed humans.

Requiring neither fertilizer nor fresh water, Algo® paint optimizes a natural resource to offer the highest quality product possible for the environment.

Algae: exceptional properties in terms of application

Our paint offers exceptional application properties. First and foremost, it offers excellent smoothness and high coverage due to its lamellar fillers. On average, one liter of Algo can cover up to 12m², while conventional paints on the market offer an average coverage of 9m².

These properties provided by algae allow excellent quality of penetration of supports as well as great resistance to aging.

Through the range's availability in matte and satin finishes, the paint is washable.

Favor short circuits for a reduced carbon footprint

One of our fundamentals is the optimization of the local economy through the manufacturing of our product.

From harvest to packaging, Algo's goal is to promote short supply chains. With this in mind, the algae needed to make our paints are harvested less than 100 kilometers from our factory. All of our paints are packaged and shipped from a work-based support center located near our factory.

With this strong action, Algo® is implementing a manufacturing process that promotes local economic synergies.

You too can help the environment by using our Algo bio-sourced paint range.
