How to repaint kitchen cabinets?

When repainting kitchen cabinets, it's important to proceed step by step. First, surface preparation is important: "the surfaces must be clean, sound, and dry."

Before painting, remember to sand your furniture

In the vast majority of cases, sanding is necessary. Cleaning and/or degreasing may also be recommended. To carry out this operation, a cloth slightly dampened with a solution of clear water and baking soda will help you.

Painting raw wood furniture

If your furniture is made of raw wood, then the preparation consists of sanding with sandpaper and dusting.

Refurbishing a piece of painted, stained, varnished, melamine or laminated wood furniture

Sanding is highly recommended, using fine-grit sandpaper before dusting. You can degrease with acetone and allow the surface to dry.

On a tannic support

It is important to apply two thin layers of furniture paint.

The complete drying time between each coat is 24 hours, which helps promote paint adhesion. However, the paint is touch dry after 30 minutes.
