Facade painting therefore plays a key role: that of protecting the building against external aggressions such as water, wind and temperatures that are too high or, on the contrary, too cold.
Exterior paint is also a real decorative asset and actively contributes to enhancing the value of your home. Algo offers more than a dozen colors for exterior use.
Now that you know what paint you are going to use on the facade of your interior, all you have to do is choose the colors before starting the renovation and painting of your facade!
Everything you need to know about painting your exterior
There are a multitude of facade paints available, suitable for various surfaces, with varying quality grades, and, above all, a wide range of prices. It's therefore important to understand the challenges involved in choosing a facade paint for your home.
First of all, it's important to understand the support that makes up your facade: it's important to distinguish a "mineral" facade (normally made of plaster and concrete) from an organic facade, which can be made of wood. This difference in support will have an impact on the product you will use for the renovation of your exterior.
Criteria to monitor closely for the renovation of your facade
Similarly, the geographical area in which your house is located will have an influence on the climate: the product you apply will not be the same whether you are in a mountainous area, a humid area or a very sunny area.
The resistance of your facade paint must be ensured to protect your exterior against possible attacks, particularly those related to the climate. Your facade paint must therefore be resistant to UV rays, bad weather, and microorganisms.
Now that you know that it is not possible to paint with just any type of product, and that choosing the right product directly influences the safety of your home, it is important to learn about all the finishing paints that exist for the exterior cladding of your home.
The different paints for facades
Just like painting an interior wall, there's a wide variety of exterior paints, starting with acrylic paint. Choosing an acrylic product means using a conventional paint that's also versatile for many exterior surfaces.
Offering resistance to water and climatic hazards, it is suitable for concrete and even plastered walls.
Although we tend to call acrylic paint water-based paint, it is nonetheless not the most environmentally responsible paint possible.
The Algo range of facade paints meets the challenges of protection and durability, which should be the number one criteria for a product before considering painting your surface. Beyond the quality of the product to be used on your facade, nothing prevents you from promoting a high-quality, environmentally friendly paint.
Sold at the fairest price, benefit from a range of colors that meet the standards expected for exterior renovation. From white to millstone or stone, the RAL color chart of our exterior paints is perfectly suited.
How to prepare your walls and successfully apply paint?
Successful application relies primarily on successful preparation, which requires careful surface preparation. This involves inspecting the condition of your facade wall by wall to detect any cracks, signs of moisture, or simply areas of painted walls where the paint is peeling.
Whatever problems you encounter, you'll need to address them before considering renovating your exterior. To ensure your project is a success, discover our tips and the necessary steps before applying paint.
The first thing to do is clean your walls with clean water, and if possible, a pressure washer to remove any traces of dirt, mold, or old residue. Once your facade is clean, you can consider filling any cracks with filler and re-grouting the joints if the condition of your exterior requires it.
The use of a primer is essential if you want your application to be successful: as with interior paint, it is recommended to apply it in one coat to even out your walls, but also to even out the paint coat.
Strictly follow the manufacturer's recommended drying time to avoid blistering and peeling. When painting, choose optimal conditions, with no rain or strong wind, if possible.
Finally, as with interior painting, make sure you use the right tools, especially the roller, which can guarantee a good appearance and a satisfactory result on the painted walls.
