Using white paint for home decor is standard, but when it comes to white, there are many options for interiors. Among them, tinted whites, more commonly known as off-white, and beige are among the key shades for interior use.
Softness, brightness, and elegance are the elements sought when using off-white or creamy beige to redo your paint job. Luckily, you can now discover all the colors in this paint category.
Whether you're looking to paint or repaint your home with neutral colors, you should keep in mind that while some shades are very similar, some are more appealing than others, depending on the room the color is being used in or the existing decor. Discover all the options available to you for repainting your home.
Why use white or beige in decoration?
Beige and white are timeless colors that are surefire favorites in decorating. They help create a soft and elegant atmosphere.
The versatility of these colors is a real asset: when it comes to enhancing off-white or beige paint, the combination options are almost endless. Pastel tones for a soft and bright ambiance, natural tones for a soothing decor, touches of black for a modern contrast, or more intense colors to energize the space.
Light colors have the ability to visually open up a space. When it comes to beige and off-white, it's clear that these shades will help make the room appear larger than it actually is.
In which room should you use beige and off-white?
There's no suspense, you can use off-white and creamy beige in every room of your house, although there are some rooms that lend themselves to it more than others.
In a living room
When it comes to decorating your living room walls, creamy beige will create a comforting cocoon, the effect produced will be conducive to relaxation and will promote a friendly atmosphere. For living rooms that are large enough and have an opening onto the kitchen, or that have a dining room, nothing prevents you from mixing and matching colors.
In a room
The neutrality of beige and off-white will promote serenity and rest. The bedroom ambiance will be harmonized if you combine natural textiles like curtains or a rug. If you're unsure about neutral colors, there's nothing stopping you from using other colors like sage green or gray.
The characteristics and nuances of these shades
Off-white and creamy beige are colors that combine elegance and versatility. Pure white is the most common shade used for painting, especially for new construction. However, its appearance, which can sometimes be considered too cold or standard, has led to the emergence of warmer shades such as off-white and beiges in general. Off-white can be slightly tinted: whether with a slightly yellow, gray, or beige appearance.
Beige is valued in a wide range of shades, from sandy beige to very light taupe. This confirms the possibility of offering an alternative to classic white as well as a very wide choice of color options.
The brightness offered by these two types of colors is unmatched compared to other colors in the color chart.
What are the differences between beige and off-white?
First and foremost, it's the color that makes the main difference! An off-white is ultimately a shade of white, as there are many shades in a color chart. Beige has a broader spectrum: beige has more pronounced nuances ranging from natural shades like linen or cream to darker, less neutral shades like caramel beige or earth beige.
The key shades of beige and off-white
It's easy to identify shades of beige and off-white that stand out. Our color chart is full of colors that can be classified as this color typology.
Warm white
Warm white is, as its name suggests, warm. This paint shade can be applied to a single wall or an entire room. Its use on the ceiling of the room in which it is being used is also an option.
The white beluga
This paint shade from our color chart stands out for its subtle pink undertone. As with many shades of white, the combination options are vast. In a living room or kitchen, the effect is guaranteed: somewhere between neutrality and originality.
The charming almond beige
Charming almond beige is one of the warmest beige options in our color chart. Its role is to highlight other colors or decorative accessories. It's the perfect shade to highlight a wooden piece of furniture, for example. When it comes to using the paint on walls, charming almond beige is a real plus in rooms that lack natural light or face north. It can also be used on a single wall.
Golden caramel beige
A natural color, golden caramel beige stands out for its warm appearance in rooms where warmth is needed. The combination options are vast, but we recommend using it on a wall with a softer color, such as pure white or off-white.
Some more information
Choose the most natural paint possible for your project. While there are "water-based paints" (otherwise known as acrylic paint), it's important to keep in mind that this type of paint contains solvent-based elements that can make up to 60% of the product - which doesn't necessarily make it a natural paint!
Please also note that the finish will not affect the color, only the appearance. You will have several options to choose from: matte on the ceilings, and satin or velvet on the walls (satin being the most washable finish, and therefore easier to maintain).
