Interior wood paint is a popular type of paint, especially for woodwork. While there are several ranges of specialized wood paints available today, it's important to choose the most eco-friendly natural paint possible for your home.

Algo paints are the perfect solution for painting your indoor wooden surfaces: all available in 100 different shades!

Whatever the medium, the role of paint is essential and offers the power to transform a room or an object completely.

Beyond the protection that applying interior wood paint can offer: it is also an opportunity to decorate or redecorate your interior.

Before choosing one of our 100 colors, there are many choices to consider, including the finish and the choice of paint to apply.

Which paint should I choose for painting wood?

When choosing paint, several questions arise: starting with the type of paint you are going to apply to your woodwork.

There are several types of paint, and the most commonly used is acrylic paint. Also known as water-based paint, it has little odor and appears to be non-toxic for facades.

In fact, this paint remains composed of solvent-based elements, which does not make it a natural alternative.

Alkyd paint is known for being more durable, however it has two major drawbacks: the first is that it takes longer to dry completely than acrylic paint.

The other disadvantage is aging, which is less guaranteed: light shades such as white or beige, for example, can yellow over time and depending on the use of the room, so it is recommended to be careful when using this type of paint.

We offer an alternative to traditional paints with our range of eco-friendly, multi-surface paints suitable for interior woodwork. Available in 100 shades, our paint is made from algae, guaranteeing coverage and adhesion consistent with traditional paints.

Beyond the qualitative aspects offered in particular by algae , our paint is one of the most natural on the market, releasing less than 1g/VOC per liter.

The choice of finishes is wide since we offer a matte, satin and velvet finish.

The satin finish is what we recommend: it is the silkiest finish, also guaranteeing you better brightness.

Is the matte finish recommended if your support has imperfections?

How to paint a wooden surface?

Now that you have chosen your paint, you can now start preparing your wood for painting.

Smoothing, sanding and cleaning: prepare your surface

First, it is important to prepare your wood so that you can apply the interior paint optimally.

To this end, we therefore advise you to inspect the support in order to detect irregularities: imperfections and roughness.

If cracks or holes exist, we recommend using wood filler to fill them and ensure the surface is even before sanding.

Sanding will ensure that the surface is smooth: use medium-grain sandpaper, particularly to remove varnish or lacquer already present on the surface.

Once you have completed all these steps, then you can clean it with a cloth slightly dampened with water.

Applying the paint

Undercoat is essential for a successful project. Its use is highly recommended to ensure greater ease of application and optimal adhesion.

The undercoat will be a real help, don't skip it.

The application of the paint is the final element and is ultimately the most important and visible step.

For application on a wooden surface, it is recommended to use brushes or rollers.

The sash brush is a good option, especially for medium or small surfaces. However, we recommend being careful when applying the paint and avoiding overloading the brush: this will help you avoid excess paint and drips!

Rollers or rabbit feet are more suitable for large, uniform wooden surfaces. As with the brush, be careful not to overload the roller to limit streaks when drying. Regular movements will help achieve an even result.

Depending on the type of wood surface, you can definitely apply the paint with a spray gun. For this type of airless spray application, standard 515 or 517 nozzles are ideal.

In order to achieve the best possible result, the application of two finishing coats is particularly recommended.

What color should I choose for my wooden support?

We offer 100 shades that can be applied to wooden surfaces, which can be a difficult choice.

However, we have some best sellers that we can particularly recommend to refine your decoration!

The dark winter sky, a key shade for your furniture!

The dark winter sky is a very popular shade, especially for furniture. A very subtle black tinged with blue, it's widely used to redecorate furniture and add a sophisticated touch.

A warm gray

Warm gray is perfect for furniture makeovers! Modern and elegant, its understated, warm color will add personality to a piece of furniture and bring presence to the room where it is applied.

A sober and basic color, warm gray can be combined with a wide range of colors.

The flaming red

We don't necessarily think about it, but red is a dense color that is perfectly suited for use on furniture.

The characteristic of a fiery red or like many shades of this type is its ability to delimit a space and mark a personality.

It will be perfectly suited to more nuanced colors like creamy beige or sandy beige on all of your walls.
