Collection: White wall paint

White paint is a must-have when it comes to decorating, whether for the walls of a room or even for painting or repainting a ceiling. The reasons for this choice are primarily aesthetic and technical. White is the perfect color for a narrow interior because it's the color that will visually enlarge the room. Beyond that, it's also an excellent choice if your room isn't bathed in natural light. Of course, white is also chosen for its aesthetics.

White paint is particularly versatile and adapts to all styles: modern, minimalist, classic, there's something for everyone. Besides, if you're reading this article, it's because you're aware of the many benefits that white paint offers. So to give you complete peace of mind when choosing and applying white paint, here are some tips that will help you choose your paint with complete peace of mind.

White on the walls has many advantages!

White has everything going for it in an interior, especially in a new build. It offers many advantages, the first of which is its clarity and brightness: it's a perfect solution for amplifying the light in a room, making it essential for dark or north-facing rooms.

Its neutral appearance also comes into play. While white has historically been used on ceilings, using it on walls will guarantee you a sober and neutral space, offering endless possibilities for an interior whether for furniture, a wall to accentuate colors and more particularly the ceiling.

White paint evens out the light and makes the space appear larger and more airy. This look is particularly appreciated in small rooms where space is often confined and restricted.

Whether you choose to order your paint online or in-store, keep in mind that eco-friendly paint is always an alternative. We recommend choosing this type of paint, which is more environmentally friendly and, above all, healthier.

We've made this clear in other guides, but a "water-based" paint is not an eco-friendly paint. If the eco-friendly alternative offers equal, or sometimes even better, value for money, don't hesitate!

What are the criteria for a good white paint?

Choosing a white paint for your walls will require you to look at and compare the different criteria that exist for white paints.

In our opinion, here are some characteristics to analyze before choosing your white paint.

First of all, the washability of the paint is an important criterion, even essential depending on the room or the supports in which you will use the white paint. The finish is generally reliable information on whether your product is washable or not. It is customary for a matte finish to not be washable, or at least much less so than a satin finish, for example.

Paint coverage and opacity are also something you should keep in mind! While we often compare the price of paint per can or per liter, you should know that depending on the coverage displayed, you will have to use more or less paint. An average coverage of a can of white paint is between 8 and 10 m2 per liter. Some paints can offer a higher coverage, such as Algo paints with a coverage of 12 m2/liter.

Be wary of the features of certain paint brands that offer miracle-like performance or unbeatable prices: make sure certain claims are reliable before making your choice (single-coat or anti-pollution paint). Be vigilant to get the best possible value for money!

As you've also noticed, there's more than one white when it comes to paint. Today, all brands offer a full range of whites. Algo paints are no exception, as we offer several whites: Pure White, Grand White, Beluga White, Warm White, and Dawn White.

Finally, it will always be more beneficial to use a natural and ecological paint for your projects, in favor of an acrylic paint (or water-based paint). The benefits for your health are numerous, starting with the very low VOC content of the paints.

Choosing the right white paint for your interior walls and ceiling

What white finish for the walls?

As we mentioned earlier, with washability, there are three finishes, ranging from the most understated to the most silky. These three finishes are matte, velvet, and satin.

Matte is the ideal finish for painting a ceiling, and is perfectly applicable to the walls of your interior. However, matte paint is not always recommended due to its rather neutral and muted appearance, as well as its lack of performance in a humid room like the kitchen, for example.

Velvet is very fashionable at the moment, both for its finish and its characteristics, as it combines the advantages of both matte and satin. It is ideal for any room in the house, except perhaps for damp rooms, where we recommend satin.

The satin finish is considered the glossiest available: it is very useful in humid rooms and is rightly considered the most washable finish possible. Therefore, choose satin for painting in high-traffic areas.
